Some of you reading this may be out to buy your first air conditioner and are weighing the option between buying a split unit, Window air conditioner and Portable air conditioner. In our hot and humid environment the A/C is one thing you cannot do with, if you can afford it. So making your A/C purchase can be a very important investment.
Here are a few thing you should know about the Split Unit before you set out to examine their various specifications and deciding to buy.
The Split unit and your home
Although it is more expensive than the Window air conditioner and the portable airconditioner, the Split unit is as good as airconditioners come. It is at the apex of air conditioners pyramid. This is one of the most efficient and powerful cooling systems available for homes. The Split Unit is made up of two parts: the indoor unit also known as ductless unit, which contains evaporator coils, filter, and blower. that is mounted on the wall, and the outdoor unit also known as the condenser unit, which contains a compressor, condenser coil, expansion joint and vent fan, that is placed in any position outside the house. The inside componet is connected by hoses to the outside condenser unit.
What happens is that the indoor unit sucks in hot or warm air from the room and cools it before blowing cool air back into the room. What happens when the warm air in the house is sucked through the indoor unit is that the hot air is retrieved along with condensation that may have assembled inside the unit and sent back out to the compressor outside.
