The nature and quality of drinking water to homes and offices in Nigeria has made water dispensers a necessity in most offices and homes. Most societies provide clean and reliable water to resident but this is not the case in most parts of Nigeria. Even when water is supplied to homes and offices, it is not considered reliable for drinking and extra measures and adopted to filter or purify the water making it safe to drink.
There are two main types of water dispensers:
Gravity-powered or bottled water dispenser dispenses water from water bottles of various sizes. These water bottles are either replaced with new bottles or refilled. Usually, owners of this kind of water dispenser buy purified water in bottles for their dispensers. The water bottle is mounted upside down in the dispenser, the cap of the bottle is punctured by a probe which allows the water in the bottle to flow into the internal reservoir of the machine.
The wall mounted point-of-user dispenser is often connected to a water source from which it dispenses. This is good for homes or offices that already have good clean source of water supply.
Water dispensers are usually low cost and easy to install and use. Since it requires no complicated and expensive installation, the water dispenser is an easy and economical option for handling and providing drinking water in homes and offices.
Most of the water dispensers in the market have water filter function. They have water filter installed which needs to be changed often.
Some water dispensers can dispense both cold and hot water.
Interestingly, some water dispensers do not just have filters, they also have sterilizers which sterilizes the water against bacteria. This also makes them water purifiers.
